The Philadelphia Eagles will hang the Super Bowl banner in front of the Dallas Cowboys to kick-off Week 1 of the 2025 NFL season on Sept. 4.
The matchup between bitter NFC East rivals will be broadcast on NBC. It will mark the first time the teams met in Week 1 since 2000, when Andy Reid’s Birds won the “Pickle Juice Game” 41-14. Duce Staley dominated with 26 carries for 201 yards and a touchdown.
The game earned the unique nickname because of Philly’s use of pickle juice to combat dehydration with temperatures reaching 109 degrees and 130 degrees on the field.
the Eagles went 2-0 against the Cowboys last year, beating them 34-6 in Week 10 and 41-7 in Week 17. That reversed the preceding six-year trend, during which Dallas got the better of eight of 12 matchups.
